Guess the species? #5

Do nose profiles from each of the gorillas at Melbourne Zoo and make us guess the name of each individual gorilla. :P

I guess that you're mocking me but I know a website where I can easily identify them if this happened.:p

Actually, no. I wasn't even thinking about you.

I just was thinking of a way to make "elephants and gorillas and stuff" challenging.

Ok folks, here are a few easy ones. This should take less time to guess than it did to crop and down-size the pics.

I like number four: I haven't seen those before in life (as far as I can recall). Where were these ones photographed?

Cleland Wildlife Park, just outside Adelaide. I suppose that I would not have been surprised if there were 12 of them. ;)

Here is a better photo of #4 to help the other players.

BeardsleyZooFan is incorrect, but Ituri is correct on all counts.

1. ?
2. Southern Cassowary chick (Gorge Wildlife Park)
3. Golden shouldered parrot (Gorge Wildlife Park)
4. Apostlebird (Cleland Wildlife Park)
5. Plumed Whistling ducks (Cleland Wildlife Park)

Number 1 has me pretty vexed. It honestly is reminiscent of a horned parakeet (in it's head particularly) but I can't seem to find any Australian parrot species that match this photo.

just thought I'd point out that this thread (in its current truncated form) is once again the top most-replied-to thread on Zoochat with over 120 more replies than the next highest rating.

I think everyone deserves congratulations for wasting so much time ;)

Ituri and Pygathrix are both almost correct in trying to guess #1.

The clue here is that I took this pic in the wild, just outside Adelaide.

You know what? I think I'll give both Ituri and Pygathrix a point for #1, because it is indeed a hybrid (albeit a naturally occurring one), with some crimson rosella blood in there.

It is called an Adelaide rosella.

Looking at the tally, I think that Ituri wins, and can post the next pics.
