Chester Zoo Diffiycult Species Too See At Chester

i still didnt see the indian rhino there was work going on in the pen there is meant to be a new one arriving soon?
i was talking to one of the keepers about the bush dogs apperently they are out early morning.
the lions should be due to give birth any day now

Actually i say i havent seen them, i did see them in october, they like did a circuit of the exhibit and went back in before the camera even turned on.

I knew he would move before I saw him again. I will find him, and off to France I will go. Rawr!

Tejas (the hand raised asian lion cub) has been moved to a zoo in France, the Citadelle de Besancan.

Ye i looked it up, thanks. I've decided its faster and cheaper for me to birth my own lion cub and see him again when he is much older lol

I have seen bush dogs three times I think, once in the new exhibit and twice in the old. i saw them at twycross no problems, but at twycross you can see their indoor quarters. I missed them at Edinburgh.

I think they spend a lot of the day sleeping off view at chester, in the tunnels, or their indoor area.
You cannot see bushdogs at Twycross any more as they went to Edinburgh

I'd say you were unlucky if he was shut away as otherwise you couldn't very well miss him.

regarding a 2nd rhino- look on the 'Indian rhino in Europe' thread for the latest news. It seems rather up in the air what is to happen.

Maybe someone can find out from the Chester staff what the plan is?

I have seen the bush dogs only once in the 2 years I have been a member.

Never seen a sand lizard :( (Are they really there or do Chester get some perverse pleasure out of watching us poor mortals trying to find them :p)

Once had the pleasure of seeing the bears walking thro' the water of their moat one very hot day :) Never managed to get a photo tho :(

Actually got to see the ringed tailed lemurs properly today for the first time. Great to see them sun-bathing and there also appeared to be quite a few babys as well.

Species which i coudnt see yesterday were
Warthog
Banded Mongoose
Scimitar Horned Oryx
Blackbuck & Brow Antlered Deer
Spectacled Bear
Giraffe (They were shut inside dur to the new baby)
Jaguar
Otters
Prevost Squirrel
Pied Tamarin
Black Lion Tamarin
Mountain Chicken
Aloatran Gentle Lemur
Anoa

Quite a few there actually werent there

I saw the otters, jaguars & banded mongoose (there were 2 in the round enclosure next to the kangaroos - I don't know where the yellow mongooses have gone). I didn't see any of the macaws or the parrots kept with them. But I'm still amazed that I saw two Mallorcan midwife toads!

I Saw all the macaws, conures and amazons. Though i do tend to stay at the parrot aviaries for a while until they do appear. I did only manage too see a Blue Throated Macaw pop its head into view and then dissapear though

On Monday I saw the Warthogs, Mongoose, Bear, Jaguar, Prevost Squirrel, Pied Tamarin, Black Lion Tamarin, Aloatran Gentle Lemur and the Anoa...

I had a fantastic view of the warthogs! Both individuals were running about the enclosure and tussling with each other (which makes me think the female may be pregnant because she was instigating the fighting and appeared larger than on my previous visit).

I actually passed most of the listed animals enclosures twice in the hope of seeing them, but obviously failed.

I haven't seen the bears and all through my childhood never once saw the beavers. The skunks near the old cat house were also hard to spot
