WANTED! - unobtainable natural programmes

Hi folks.

Do you remember watching a good natural history TV program/series/movie/documentary, and now you can´t find it anywhere?

Then welcome to my world... Some TV companies are still refusing to adapt to modern world and keeping some of their shows in the archive, not releasing it on DVD or making it accessible on their online players. That is something I can´t understand, especially when it comes to programs that are supposed to educate people. If you don´t want to release a DVD, then why don´t you upload it on any online player and at least make some money from the advertisement? Don´t get it..

Anyway, this thread here is for natural history movies/series/shows you can´t find anywhere, and hopefully, we can exchange some tips on where to find them/watch them.

Here are three I´m looking for right now:

Living The Wildlife (RTE) - 4 seasons(!) - not released on DVD and episodes are available on the RTE player only for few days after airing on TV. (Currently none)

Bill Bailey´s Birdwatching Bonanza (Sky) - looking for episodes 3 and 6

Tiger Island -season 1 (Nat Geo Wild, occasionally airs on Sky?) - only second season was released on DVD, for some reason..

P.S. I don´t want to encourage any internet piracy by this thread, I am absolutely willing to pay for it. But if the copyright owners sit on it and don´t want my money, what am I to do?

Wow, that´s a good one... that could still lie somewhere in CBC archive, could it not? (well, it´s not in the online one, so..)

A vain hope here methinks..BBCs "Great Zoos of the World" [1969] not only for myself but also Anthony Smith...the presenter!

I would like to see a re-run of Zoo 2000 a BBC programme from the mid eighties, presented by Jeremy Cherfas.

Are you saying that you know the presenter personally and even he doesn´t have a copy??

When I started this thread, I was thinking mainly about new(ish) programmes (something that was on TV recently but wasn´t released on DVD or online player afterwards.. ) It didn´t occur to me, how many historic treasures must be lying in BBC and other archives... :(

It really doesn´t make any sense to me...

I would love to see all the programmes you mentioned, guys, they must have been amazing!

Yes i do know Anthony Smith and no..he has only the London Zoo edition - and i supplied him with that. There are another 6..my investigations lead me to believe that they have been erased.I really didnt think there was a chance but...you never know!

One of the biggest surprises to me personally, is that the three-part BBC series 'Congo' never made it onto DVD in Britain, only being available as part of a pretty expensive three-series box set only available in US format. The only bit I can find of it is this seven minute clip, and the footage is amongst the best I have seen on a BBC documentary (although some of the scientific information is either wrong or outdated).

You took the words right out of my mouth! I have looked for years for this and had no luck other than the US version you mention. I thought it was a superb series, one of my favourites in fact.
