Trip in UK's zoos

He asked if it was possible to do both in a day, and it is.:) That's not to say it is ideal as they both deserve longer than a half day but if time is short or you don't want to overnight, its possible. I even once did both in an afternoon from 1.p.m.!! (due to a leaking car radiator my day was completely messed up!)

Fair point :), it is possible to do the two collections in one day, but whether you can see the whole collection is another matter, especially when you're on or waiting for the safari at PL for a small portion of the day.

Yes, you can, but you need to be a fast walker! Also since the Safari set-up has come into being at Port Lympne that all seems rather different nowadays. Its not something I've done again, and I do prefer a more leisurely pace at both places with most of a day at each ideally;).

I think the main problem is that you may see every enclosure, but have no chance of seeing every inhabitant!!

I think that maybe why I didn't think a day was long enough, and looking back we did back and to between the cats and Palace of the Apes via the Malayan tapirs, a walk that was at least 10-15 minutes each way at the pace we were going at :)

I came back on wednersday last week. I really enjoy this trip. First, I visited London (but drive on the left is not so easy ...)

Second day : London Zoo, beautiful collection, lot of works, and some big enclosure. At the same time, I wasn't fan of the African sector

Third day : Colchester, discover some new species for me, beautiful zoo design

Fourth day: Port Lympne, not easy to take picture

Fith day : Howletts and Wingham Zoo, as for PL, some new species but not easy to take picture

Sixth day : Whipsnade, so big but original concept the visit by car

Seventh day : Chester, the top of the top best zoo of the trip

Eight day: Twycross, which was not plan at the beginning but on the road to go back to London. Beautiful apes collection, I really like their small primates enclosures. But for big apes ... No comment ... :)

So I really enjoy this trip and the weather was glad with me, it was a sunny week.

I am currently writing the description of Chester Zoo which will be soon be on line.

You were extremely lucky with the very good weather, it was a mini-heatwave after weeks of bad weather and it has been terrible again since! I was at Howletts/Pl that week too.;)
