It hasn't been stated anywhere officially so I would not be quite so positive about this- at least yet..;)

From memory 'Ebobo' from Budapest has already transferred to Barcelona. There is never any shortage of replacement males in these situations though narrowing them down to the most suitable ones does weed a lot of the others out.

The Gorilla exhibit looks brilliant, would love to see a bit more foliage and trees in there but it's not yet completed. The Cheetahs, the males will form 'coalition groups' and roam fast areas in Africa, females are solitary so maybe you only saw three Cheetahs which are males, three females are inside kept separate and the other newly arrived male may still be in quarantine.

That sounds about right, but I think that the 7th cheetah has finished quarantine as well.

The exhibit could do with a little more in terms of boulders and rocks and even perhaps some rock work with heated indoor plates for the gorillas to peruse. And plantings (hot-wired) ...., ropes, hessian and swinging structures.

I think this is pretty much how it will look now at least until it matures a bit. My guess is they will be shut outside in fine weather in the summer at least, and food may be thrown to them from the boats as they pass, to lure them close down to the water. That's what they used to do previously- not sure if they do that with Nico.
 
Has Jessie and the new tapir bred yet?Also,where are the warthogs,have any left due to the newish female and have they bred?

He is moving to Longleat it was announced at the ZSL AGM yesterday.
 
Don't know if it's already been said, but lemur species in the new walk through are ring tail and brown.
 
In other news, building work on the Gorilla house and enclosure is almost finished and the new batchelor group are due to arrive "very shortly"

The African Village should also be completed in the next week or two, with the official opening following soon afterwards

There is now a male Red Panda on show (new species for the park)
 
is the polar experience just holding penguins or some other animals polar bears or something would be nice but one can dream

The most recent update on this still indicates these males will be;

'Boulas'-from Twycross (as oldest 'senior' male)
'Kesho'-from London.
'Alf/Sekani' & 'Evindi' from Dublin (these are Kesho's younger brothers)

I wonder if anyone else is being booked into this desirable parkland residence with Lakeside frontage.;)
 
Longleat have a new Giraffe Bull called Thorn from Chester zoo. Does any one know where Dotto has gone to now?
