Chester Zoo Chester Zoo updates *3

Official announcement from Facebook.

Not long after our first baby onager was born on June 10, a SECOND has now followed! The species is classed as critically endangered and so these new foals are very important arrivals indeed. (Thanks to Marie Benjamin for posting this very first snap).

blackbuck.

Do you know where they came from? They did have a male and a few females but I believe he died/moved on. Do they still have the original females plus the new specimens?

Would like to bump Jordan's question about where the new Blackbuck were sourced?

Only news from today is that...

The male Babarusia has been moved back in with the female and piglets. If Anoa are back on show in his temporary exhibit then I didn't see them. Signage on the bridge enclosure has not been changed back yet

Small Clawed Otter in the same enclosure have got a new litter of pups (link below)

This is really old news from the zoo as Birdwings have been on-show in the Butterfly Journey since mid February (no idea why they're publicising them now). Based upon that, I'd imagine they'll be present for significantly longer than another few weeks.

And wonderful creatures they are too. Little stunners.

These are new specimens, the original ones died.

Maguari is correct, they are beautiful insects.

Chester have announced the departure today of bull elephant Upali to Dublin and a replacement to come from Seville later in the year.

Did not realise that, was new news to me anyway:)
I have been a few times already this year not noticed them but I,m not always that observant:D
The one I saw was a recently emerged insect judging by its condition most butterflies in the UK only live for a few weeks at most so imagine that they have got in several pupa

Another nice new arrival though - it's been a long time since the on-show mammal collection was as diverse as currently.

I saw the titi monkeys yesterday (it helps being tall) but in all honesty, wasn't 100% sure what they were.

There's a new congo buffalo calf and the turaco chicks have fledged in the Tsavo Aviary too.
