So the male didn't die then? That is the one enclosure I forgot to look at as it no longer has the Black Rhinos.... Any news on the chimpanzee 'Koko' ?
The Whipsnade Gaur are to move back to their original enclosure near the Elephants/rhinos later this year. I think they were moved as they needed the space for the male rhino when the calves were born- now that enclosure is empty. I saw the mother and calf in the old Black rhino area- confined to the rear yard- didn't see the male but heard him inside. They are very difficult to see at present because of the barriers.
Indeed- I saw her right at the end of the day asleep in a corner- but in with the group. They started doing it soon after the male was shot. The escape is still being looked into- they believe it was a malfunction of a door in the connecting tunnel.

Yes only one male i saw him opposite the male rhino paddock. i'll find a pic...not sure what happened to the female though.

The mother and male 'calf' (nearly full grown) were both there a few months ago- however they had been split up with one in the yard/shed and one out in the paddock. Are you absolutely certain there is now only one?

hang on, could it be the female i saw? I guessed it was a male as it was on its own.Have they breed since last year?
they still had both in October, kept as I described above. they have not bred again as the old male died, leaving mother & son.
