Which zoo animal species would make better world leaders than the ones we have now?

2012 has been a year of elections for people around the world.

Egypt had its first democratic election. Russia had an election in which the choices were "Vladimir Putin" or "Are you REALLY sure that you don't want to vote for Vladimir Putin?" (just ask the young women from "Pussy Riot" sitting in jail for two years).

In the U.S. we are getting hit by an unending blizzard of campaign commercials, political junk mail, and campaign speeches that is not expected to break up until after November 6.

With all of the troubles in the world, are there any species at our local zoos or aquariums that could do a better job of running the world than our current metaphorical clown car of world leaders?

I'm copping it on Facebook from my american friends who keep posting nd sharing all sorts of figures, stats, rumour and innuendo. The problem is, I wouldn't know the difference between a democrat or a republican, what they stand for, or which camp Mitt Romney barracks for.

It's just annoying, and I'll be happy when its all over and done with and Obama is back in for another term.

Alan Root, was talking on BBC radio this morning. He is the veteran nature cinematographer, who shot the Armand Dennis films that I watched as a kid (and that really dates me) and many more since. He was asked what creature he hasn't yet filmed that he would really like to work with. His reply was interesting, from the depths of the Congo forest - the hero shrew (I won't go into the details).
All together now "We need a hero!"

I couldn't say it better myself! Here in the US politics are disgusting and both Democrats and Republicans are terrible, but Obama certainly needs to win a 2nd term. As for animals, I like the idea of a matriarchal "nanny state" ran by elephants

I think it'd be a tough campeign with Asian Elephants, Bonobos, and Humpback Whales all running against each other. All three could make great leaders. I think the point is some animals would be better choices then a lot of Human leaders we've had.
