Lance Armstrong

Man oh man. This guy makes Tiger Woods look like Mother Theresa! Tiger can still say he has natural prowess (of many kinds) and probably only uses performance enhancing drugs for recreational purposes, if you catch my drift. :D

I loved Lance and initially thought it was a conspiracy, but this is starting to rival Roswell for sheer magnitude of the cover up! So what are your thoughts on Lance and the whole doping scandal?

Love the fact you linked to the "discovery" page as a sort of triple pun :)

Does sound a lot like he actually might have used something. I was laughing my socks off when the Rabobank-teamcaptain from the 2002-2006 period said on the radio today:"It's a good time to put a line underneath all this and move on, it's been so long ago...".

Yes 7 years really is a insurmountable time...

They still did not catch him with a positive test. His own autobiography and everything else I have heard says he was not a team player and his team mates did not like him. Now almost all their evidence is team mates who have been caught using drugs saying he did it to. He is retired, why are they wasting their time chasing him when they could be checking on current competitors. Another problem they have is if the remove him as a winner of the tour de france almost all the second place getters have been caught on drugs already.
Even if he did do it they are just wasting money chasing someone who is retired. I am sure there is better things to spend their time and money on.

I think your comment is really spot on Monty. Is there any prominent bike racer that hasn't been zapped by doping allegations? The whole sport seems rife with it, at least the superstar generation of the last few years. It is really disheartening. Hopefully the next generation will do better. This seems to be the case with baseball which had similar mass drug scandals in years past.

As for Lance Armstrong, he will likely go down in history as a loathsome liar and creep. Say it ain't so Lance. Better yet, don't say anything; just go away.

All valid points folks. I saw a doco on Ben Johnson recently, and right now I have more respect for him than Lance, because although Ben cried like a baby in the '80s, he was man enough to publicly admit that he used performance enhancing drugs.

I think he should publicly state it is untrue, or just break down in tears on 60 Minutes and admit it.

He's been saying it is untrue for years, and somewhat unbelievably still is. He may well end up going to jail for saying it's untrue. At the very least he now has to live with the disgrace for the rest of his life.

True, he has denied it, but a couple months ago he said he was done fighting, which many pundits pointed out was almost an admission of guilt. This most recent accusation (if you can call it that) has gone unanswered. Does he give back the money the way Ben Johnson had his medal taken away from him?

I really would like him to be proven innocent, but the evidence is almost overwheing to the contrary. Also, Monty, I think that they should pursue the case to remind sportsmen and kids that you will eventually get caught. A bad analogy is going after Nazi war criminals - I am happy for money to be spent hunting them down 70 years after the fact.

Well it wasn't 60 Minutes, but he did break down on Oprah. What a tool.

And now that he has admitted the truth, doping in lots of other sports seems to be coming to light - like soccer and Australian rules football. And news of match fixing is also coming out. Jeeze. Maybe kids should look up to scientists instead of sportspeople.

He also admitted to taking performance enhancing drugs. And now has a lawsuit against seeking restitution of $11.7 million paid to him for his Tour de France wins.

:p
