Whilst searching the forum I found this old thread. I know it's not quite the end of the year but how did your plans go?

My plans were:

Knowsley (first ever visit) - yes really enjoyed it
Chester (nice meet up with friends) - twice I think not as much as I usually do
Twycross (regular visit) - yes loads
Paradise Wildlife Park (first visit) - yes keeper day
Woburn Safari park (third visit ever) - twice
Yorkshire wildlife park - only a couple of times really need to go more
Monkeyworld - lots
Blackbrook - not so far
Howletts no
Port Lympne no
Might also do Dudley again - no
Also would like to visit BNC later in the year - yes loved it

Also visited Bristol and whips are as well

Mine changed a bit. As planned I made a first visit to the Tropical Butterfly House - I loved it as I did Axe Valley which I don't think I had included in my plans (but I haven't checked yet). I managed only one visit to Lotherton and I suspect I was still planning to visit Harewood, but I abandoned that on hearing of the reduction in the size of the collection. I must have intended to go to Tropiquaria, but that is where I swapped for Axe Valley. I probably intended to make only two visits to Flamingo Land, but I have been three times and I am hoping to get there again in December. I really should have checked my post before typing this. Oh, I haven't been to the YWP.

I didn't make too many plans, as something always seems to get in the way! I always try to visit at least 1 new zoo a year, but managed 3 this year, even though i didn't make it to the one i aimed for - Dudley! I also made 2 totally unscheduled visits to London in August.
The ones i'd hoped for and didn't manage were returns to Paignton(after 3 years), Port Lympne(5 years) and Edinburgh(3), but will hopefully manage all in 2013.

The new ones were Hamerton in March, which i will definitely make an annual visit now, Africa Alive which was better than i expected and Longleat which wasn't!

Most of my other visits aren't planned more than a day or two ahead, as they are local or on route to family, but so far i've managed:
Whipsnade - 6 or 7 times
Colchester 3
Marwell 2
Linton 2
Woburn, Twycross, Howletts, Shepreth once each.
Would like to manage at least one more before the year's out, but i may have to take the cheaper option of Whipsnade or Colchester again!

New Forest Wildlife park, Chester, Birdland, Cotswold and Heythrop.
Got to Blackbrooks Car park, but it started snowing so went to Dudley.

Blackbrook is brilliant in the snow you missed a real treat!

Just remembered I've also been to banham, longleat and Wales ape and monkey sanctuary too

It started coming down like a blizzard and i wasn't to fussed getting caught in the middle of nowhere. A pity because i was looking forward to it. I just hope it's still there next year after reading reports this week. We went to Dudley instead and virtually had the place to ourselves. I love visiting zoos at quiet times.

Just checked my posts (I hadn't thought of just clicking the link - computers are still a bit of a mystery to me). I was already planning a total of three Flamingo Land visits as I had already been once so that has been achieved, but I decided a break to visit either the Welsh Mountain Zoo or The Parrot Zoo would be too expensive. I'd really like to get to Colwyn Bay for the 50th anniversary next year; incredibly the day itself is the day before the "Think Parrots" event in Woking which is something else I was thinking about attending. I have managed my 6 visits to Filey and I am keeping a tally of days on which I have been to Sewerby (counting two visits on one day as only one visit though; at the moment I am going on a Saturday morning to spray the Eclectus Parrot and then back again in the afternoon for an actual visit so it's not really two visits as such). My other plans were as I thought, so I am a few outings down on my intentions. I held off going to Lotherton because of bad weather and it was July before I visited, so I do not mind not having gone again in September or October. Pity about the YWP, although after I had been to the Tropical Butterfly House I was thinking about a second visit there instead of the YWP anyway. Eventually I realised going to either would be too expensive after my holiday in Paignton. Maybe next year.

Have been up their in a blizzard,I guess having lived and worked around that area pretty much most of my life,I'm less bothered about the weather than most people,Just a case of when it really snows putting on the snow chains and carrying on!!

I took out membership of Dudley Zoo this year and planned to visit once a month throughout the year - I've just completed my 11th visit and the final one is pencilled in for the second or third week of December.

I intended to visit Chester Zoo but haven't made it yet although I'm hoping to go last week of November and catch up on all the new arrivals (some of which aren't that new anymore!)

I also planned to visit Hagley Falconry Centre and Yorkshire Wildlife Park which I haven't managed to do, so these will go onto the list for next year.

I've lapsed with my monthly Yorkshire Wildlife Park visits this year, not sure why, must get back into the habit.

I've visited Chester fewer times than I'd like and two of those visits were ones where you don't see most of the animals.

Intended to get to Colchester but didn't. Ditto Chestnut Centre, Howletts, Port Lympne.

I made it to Prague which was on the plan.

Went to Longleat, West Midlands Safari Park, Knowsley and Drayton Manor which are all new to me.

Went to Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Centre; as USA was not planned until about 2 weeks before that's a total surprise.

Also visited Bristol, Wales Ape & Monkey Sanctuary, Monkey World and Twycross.
