Your best photo of 2012

It's taken a while to sort through all the photos I've taken this year but these are my personal favourites (all taken at Dudley Zoo):

Daseep (Sumatran) & Tschuna (Amur) - simply because it highlights the difference between the two

Bornean Orang utans, Jazz and baby Sprout

Carpathian lynx

and my absolute favourite, snow leopard (I just love the intensity of his expression).

Great pictures Angel,

I hope u don't mind me suggesting, I think if you could zoom in and crop these pictures they could look even better. Particularly the orangs from what l can see l think you may have some great expressions on both that will be enhanced by cropping the pic.

Hi Zooman,

Thanks for your comments. No, I certainly don't mind you suggesting that the photos may look better for being cropped - I'm sure you are right. I've only started to use a digital camera in the last couple of years so am not yet in the habit of cropping and 'tweaking' photos - it's one I must cultivate.

I reckon this is the time to post my offerings.

I think my best zoo photograph of 2012 is this one of Kukena the baby gorilla at Bristol.

My best 2012 wildlife photo was taken earlier this week - a dabchick (little grebe) shaking a newt it has just caught.

The first two are from the Smithsonian National Zoo and while they aren't as impressive as some of the other ones they are both special to me. The first is obviously of an Arapaima with many other fish species in the tank in Amazonia. The second is of one of the zoo's Sumatran Tigers that was in the far back of the exhibit which is one of the three reasons I love this picture since I'm horrible at zoomed-in shots. The other two are that this was the first and only Sumatran Tiger I've ever seen (also the first Tiger I ever hear vocalize so now four reasons) and that this was the first Tiger I ever photographed. The next is of the Beardsley Zoo's Andean Condor. I like this picture as it makes me really feel the majestic beauty of this young bird. The last one is the elusive and mysterious Snow Leopard slipping into hiding through its exhibit brush at the Central Park Zoo. The think is this is only one of the four pictures I don't remember taking.

I had a cat website that someone built for me, but I was unable to edit it myself so I am now working on my own. At the moment it just has a main page and all the links say "coming soon" or something like that. You can mark it if you want and I am pretty close to finishing, so hopefully in a couple weeks.

(I learned the web software by building a more general photo site, which is done and active. It has a few cats, but also landscapes and scenery).

I don't know how I missed this post, but those are some fantastic photos! Did you take them all yourself? All those small cat photos were of captive cats right?

I know I'm a bit late, but here are my favorite three from 2012. The first and third are from Beardsley, and the second is from the Bronx.

Sorry for late reply, I did not see it until just now. Yes, all cats are captive and all photos by me.

My best animal shots of 2012, two from the Jane Goodall Institute South Africa Chimpanzee Sanctuary, and two from Kruger National Park.
You can just make out the cheetah in the distance that has the impalas' attention.
