Christmas? Bah humbug!

That sounds like some really cool Christmas plans there. A bit of shopping, some partying, some carolling, Santa, and some gift-giving.

Nah, I am not into Christmas, but my wife is, so I have to smile and wave, as the penguins say.
 
I drove up to my parents' house in the country yesterday and I'm spending a couple of days here with them and then on Christmas day we're driving back to Melbourne for lunch with my mum's family and then lunch with dad's family (all 50 of them) on Boxing Day.
 
My Christmas plans are on Christmas eve is to go to my aunts house to hangout. Then my family will go to Christmas eve mass and on Christmas morning wake up and open presents and just sit around the house. Then we have more Christmas shenanigans on the weekend.

Well I broke up from work yesterday and all I can say is... Thank God it's Christmas! :) (I'm assuming everybody is familiar with the Queen song of the same name?)
I dislike Christmas for one reason only, the amount of shopping people are inclined to do! I work for a supermarket and it's absolutely ridiculous, I understand people buying meat and poultry, fresh veg, alcohol and presents. But why on earth do they feel the need to bulk buy bread, toilet roll, milk etc? The shops are only closed for one or two days at most and there is a convenience store every couple of hundred yards in Birmingham that will be open on Christmas day!
Why make your life even more stressful than it has to be? And why spend more money that you don't actually have to spend on stuff that you don't need any more or any less at this time of year?
Rant over! :D

Other than that, I quite like Christmas. It's especially great watching the kiddies open their presents in the morning! :)
And of course there is the traditional 'afternoon in the pub' where me and my stepfather get to relax and have a couple of beers away from the women-folk! :) (I'm glad my better half won't be reading this! ;))
 
Brum, I totally agree with you. Maybe they need to stock up on toilet roll because of all the crap they will eat over the holidays?

It's great that you folks are spending it with family. Normally I do too. Last year my parents were touring Panama and Cuba, and this year they are touring India. I am looking forward to their safari pics. My brother lives in London, and my wife does not really have any family. We aren't complaining though! :D Being forced to spend time with family over the holidays is also something I could whinge about, but I choose not to because they are cool in small doses. :D
 
Another afternoon wasted decorating Christmas treats. Diabetes, here I come!

Indeed! This was not made from scratch though. It's a kit from the supermarket where you get the walls and roof ready-made, but you decorate and assemble the house yourself.

We are still learning how to work icing, as the viscosity depends on the mixing ratio, humidity, temperature etc. - hence the runny windows. :D

By the way folks, as I type this, it is 10 minutes away from Christmas, so Merry Christmas to you all!
 
Nanoboy im coming over to eat those cookies!!!!!!! lol i give you wifr props on her baking ability. they look to good to eat :). and i have that feature on my phone also. I love it.

Well I just got back from caroling and partying. There was a huge surplus of food afterwards and I'm sooooo full!! We shortened the number of homes visited this year so we could dedicate a few songs for the Newtown Shooting victims. We went down to the lake front and sang Silent Night, Rudolph (my idea), and Jingle Bells (my brother's idea). During our performence a single Cackling Goose flew over head. I don't know if that means something or not but take that as you will. It actually snowed here, too! It hasn't snowed here since October and it's more than we got then so it was a nice Christmas event. Coincidentally, White Christmas started right when we noticed. Also, when "Santa" arrived to give the kids a present the radio was playing Santa's Coming to Town.

Incorrect; it snowed in November, at least where I live.:p Still, nice to see the snow fall as I walked out of church.

Homemade Christmas lunch.

Yorkshire pudding and gravy, roast pumpkin with breadcrumbs and pine nuts, potatoes with avocado and cream dressing, and mango glazed salmon. Bah humbug.

Folks, it sounds as though you all had a fantastic Christmas. Be cool, be safe.

Christmas isn't really a Christian celebration. We can all be grumpy together, regardless of our race, religion, and nationality.

A few years ago it snowed on the mountains on Christmas Day, which was a huge deal here.
