Hi all
i am straying here from the chester zoo threads in need of some ideas/ assistance...
i am studying zoo management at chester uni (i live in chester) and im in my second year. This year one of my modules consists entirely of 5 weeks work placement, for which i have secured a position at colchester zoo working with the giraffes, rhinos, zebras etc :D:D:D
however the difficultly lies in 2 areas...
1 - im a skint student (cant place enough emphasis on this) and...
2 - i live the otherside of the country to the zoo (or what the journey to the interview felt like on the national express at least)
So basically i need somewhere to live from the 7th of May to the 7th of June, preferably as near to the zoo as possible. does anybody here live near and have a spare room they would be willing to let out to a non smoking, non drinking 25 year old male student for a fee or even better i could help out with whatever is needed around the house?? or can anybody think of a dirt cheap hostel or b&b that may be willing to offer a discount for 5 weeks accomodation?
aswell as posting this here i am in touch with the volunteer coordinator at the zoo so i will be designing a wanted ad/poster to be placed in the staff room to see if any of the staff can help.
any suggestions or ideas/offers would be greatly appreciated... failing all this i may prop up a tent in the deer paddock...;) (seriously i would if i could get away with it!)
thanks chris

I can't give you any specific details, but I can suggest phoning all the local B&Bs and asking the zoo if they could suggest any. I did a placement at WMSP and used a local B&B that was only £5 a night, and they made literally all there business from the safari park workers and contracters. Perhaps there will be a simillar one near to Colchester??

Chris, being local to Chester I am of no help to you, I just wanted to wish you the best of luck and a plea to keep us updated with your training and placement please!
