Happy new year folks!

What's your resolutions for 2013? Mine is to stop making resolutions. :D

Cut back on the cola, chocolate and chips.
Exercise more.
Do more housework.
Spend less time procrastinating.

:p

Hix

Exercise more
Work harder in school
Further my zoological knowledge
Visit at least 7 zoos/aquariums this year (since I can't drive yet my number of zoo visiting opportunities are limited)
Be a more productive person

I'd like to plant a vegetable garden for us, as I have one for the tortoises and lizards.
Plant more edible grasses for the tortoises.
Become more active in the community.
Add more solar panels.
Drive less.
Rollerblade more.
Plant trees at our lake house for our children.
Expand on donating time and resources.

Oh yeah, exercise more and eat more healthily are definitely resolutions of mine too. :) I also want to eat less meat. I have replaced minced meat and burgers with Quorn - which is really tasty - and I hope to do more substitutions in 2013.

Don't they have quorn in America. If not it is a cheap, and healthier(yet worse:p) replacement for meat.

Happy new year to everyone on zoochat.

We have corn. I just had some of the popped variety. With butter (and a movie on the side).

Quorn is a brand of fake meat that is made from some sort of fungusy-mushroomy type of concoction.

Sounds revolting. Glad we don't have it here.

I think you do have it in America, but it is probably only popular in trendy cities like San Fran. :D

Keep an eye out for it in your supermarket, and at least try it once. Cook it like you would cook meat (re: seasoning, condiments etc) and you will not be able to tell the difference between it and a beef burger/mince.

Why? If I want the taste and texture of ground beef (what the hell is mince?), I'll get real Texas beef.

I think minced beef and ground beef is the same thing. Like the stuff you would use to make spaghetti bolognese.

Is spaghetti bolognese different than normal spaghetti? Oh, the great culinary divide...

I believe that spaghetti is the name of the pasta itself, whereas the "bolognese" bit refers to a dish that incorporates spaghetti pasta.
