How did you discover Zoochat?

Oh I was just joking around. It was a reference to another thread where we were warning ThylacineAlive about giving out too much personal info on Zoochat because of stalkers/paedophiles who would encourage him to go for ice cream in their black panel vans. So although I say it tongue in cheek, it is a very real problem that everyone, especially the under-18 kids here, needs to always be aware of.

It's something that everyone, regardless of age, needs to be aware of.

True, but that doesn't mean that everyone over eighteen who talks or interacts with younger people might be a paedophile. That pervasive attitude has meant that there are now hardly any male primary school teachers left, and many cubs and scouts groups are run solely by women, to give two examples. There is a new film out about how devastating it can be to be falsely accused of child abuse, although I haven't seen it yet it seems worth watching.

@nanoboy: you made a remark to me, but I ignored it. I don't think paedophile jokes are that funny, especially yours.

Of course.

A former co-worker told me about this site back in 2009. checked it out. lurked for a few years. started noticing all of the herpetofauna in european galleries and signed up late last year. it is now one of the forums I check daily amongst others I have followed for years. great site.

Points noted, and I do apologise for my South Park humour offending you. :o I never suggested that all adult-child relationships have an ulterior motive: I merely meant to make the point that as adults, we must be aware of children being on this website and we must be careful with our interactions.

Funnily enough, there is a South Park episode about it (or maybe it's two episodes): the one with 'sexual harassment panda' and the other where they didn't want a gay man (Big Gay Al) to be the scout master, thinking he would molest the boys, but when they replaced him with a manly man, he turned out to be a paedo! It was too funny.

I think you just pissed him off more.

I don't think I did, because I was agreeing with him. I'll find a YouTube video and post it, because it sounds similar to the movie "The Hunt" (because Big Gay Al was wrongly accused), but told humourously instead of somberly.

I believe I actually searched "Zoo Forums", and it brought me to "Zoobeat". I remember having to leave it for the time being and coming back to it the next day. I couldn't remember the ending of the name, so it took a few (slightly embarrassing) guesses/attempts before stumbling across the site again.

That was in the fall of 2007 (when I was 11). I lurked for several months, until finally I joined in May 2008 (at age 12) when I noticed that a few Toronto Zoo fanatics (you three know who you are ;)) had become active. And the rest is history! Can't believe it's been nearly five years!!!

But it on The Nonsense Thread.

I've been trying to remember exactly how I ended up joining zoochat but I honestly can't remember. I do know that it only took me about 48 hours to sign up as I was itching to talk about a lot of different topics. 18 months later and I'm still here! :D

I found out about zoochat about a year ago when I was trying to find out about animals that used to live at the Toronto Zoo. After first finding zoochat, I thought it might be interesting, but I decided not to join. I started looking on the website more and more to find out about Toronto and other zoos around the world, until I finally decided that it was time for me to join and I'm so glad I did.

I discovered ZooChat back when it was ZooBeat. Not sure what I was searching for but I was sure thrilled to find it. Back in those days it was still a very Australian centered site and there weren't too many other American posters.

I also think its appropriate that this thread contains someone getting offended by Aussie humor as that is a long, long, long standing tradition on this site. :D

I found ZooChat by simply surfing the Internet. At first, I just looked at pictures in the gallery and read random posts. I thought this site was pretty interesting, and a week after I discovered ZooChat, I decided to make an account and have been active daily ever since.

I was looking for the Species list of the Shedd aquarium, and then lurked for months. Then I logged on.
The end.

I discovered ZooChat on a cloudy lockdown day at April 2020. I designed a fantasy zoo, and I wanted to find inspiration in ZooChat gallery. I thought 'This site looks very interesting' and then I signed up.
