San Diego Zoo Zoo News 2013

I bet that would be something interesting to go see. Didn't they have a tiger-themed one last year? I won't be going until June. I have flight credit that expires mid-July, but I want to see the new Australian Outback exhibit.
 
For the cool cats days, there will be a list of the events starting Jan 28 at sandiegozoo.org/coolcats

The two baby clouded leopards have began there transition out of the nursery and are going behind stage to be animal ambassadors.

Sea world got a baby beaver and needed room for it so they transferred there two capybaras to the zoo. The zoo also has three baby capys currently as well.

The sloth bear and the sun bear switched exhibits on Thursday, I don't know if this is just for the day or if this will be a new thing for a while.

The babirusa's are missing and there are lowland anoa in there place down below the panda exhibit (the old red river hog exhibit)

The short hairy noised wombats are not out anymore, they have common wombats in the exhibit that they were in.

Next to the bactrian camel exhibit is now a llama exhibit. They have 2 golden lion tamarin in the kids zoo next to the slides.

Just some updates that i noticed yesterday

The sloth bear and sun bear have been switched for about a month now. The keeper told me that the male sun bear feels more comfortable in that exhibit. They are hoping they will breed. I can never find the sloth bear in the sun bear exhibit.

The babirusas are in the exhibit next to the yellow backed duikers at the start of Tiger Trail.

I guess I haven't walked down front street in a while because I wasn't aware or the changes there.
 
The opening page lists a few animals by name and says NOTHING about tasmanian devils. When you get into the interactive map, however, you can click on the plus symbols to see what is there and one of them does bring up a tasmanian devil habitat. So why no mention on the main page? I can only think of two reasons. Either (1) They do not think the public is interested in a small animal like that or (2) they do not have them yet and will be adding them to the exhibit at a later date.
 
Oops, the link was above. How different is this design from what they had before? I like the design format.
 
I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but will Kiwi House still be there after the opening of the Australian Outback? The new interactive map shows a small trail with a structure that looks like the kiwi house.
 
A trio of Koala's left Brisbane on Thursday bound for San Diego (not sure on exact source collection, sorry)
 
More Koala's? Probably Queenslands if they left from Brisbane. Do we need more genetic diversity in the American koala colonies?

Both the European and American colonies need more genetic diversity. It's my understanding that they're all slightly inbred.
