Zookeeping Salaries

So from a previous forum, I said I wanted to be a zookeeper, does anybody know the salary they make?
I went on the internet and it said 14$/hr
That's not alot, does anyone know the REAL salary?
It would help alot

It depends on the zoo. I have been in the zoo industry for a while now. Some keepers make minimum wage (which can be low as $8.95 an hour). Some first time keepers can make around 35-40,000 a year at a good zoo, with more experienced keepers pushing 50-60,000 at a good zoo. Though I have seen plenty of experienced keepers make no more than 25,000 a year.

This is more realistic. If there are keepers making over 40,000/year, their salaries are vestigial from when zoos were part of city departments and employees got regular pay raises and/or union representation. Those days are gone for those interested in entering the market today.

Where is minimum wage as high as $8.95?
 
If you are an adult permanent keeper in Australia your hourly rate would be $17. If you are an adult casual keeper that rate would be $21.31 per hour. You will only have to work a 38 hour week.

You will get extraordinarily generous penalty rates if you work on public holidays - and, in some cases, even if you don't work on public holidays.

In addition, our benevolent government will ensure that you have Medicare and that your employer will subsidise your Worker's Compensation and your Superannuation.

You will need to be careful to avoid the stampede - industries racing out of the country and migrants racing in by whatever means they can.

Hmmmmmm - this benevolence might not be able to be sustained!
