Local Stereotypes

So seriously I want to see what the average Aussie or Scot holds as Alabama stereotypes or at least Southern United States.
 
When I still mention I'm from New York, people automatically think I'm from New York City. I once corrected someone and said I was Buffalo, the other side of the state. He still asked me how I liked the ocean and beaches.

Damn Yankees? Lets see rude, uncaring (low rates of personal charity per capita), high taxes, intrusive nanny state, crowded, no open spaces, self important, basically everything about y'all is a slap in the face the Founders vision especially compared to the West or the South.


I would mention guns but I promised not to hijack anymore threads with that one.

You're thinking Bridgeport:p Taxes are bad, though. I would argue the whole no open spaces thing. How is everything about us a slap in the face to the founders of the country? We were here before the rest of y'all. And we had a constitution first;)

How come every time I quote everyone of your posts it's longer from what I originally quoted. All the last few stuff wasn't there until I quoted it.:confused:

Because usually I go back and edit instead of having 6 posts of mine in a row clutter the conversation. I do it because of years of being on forums as a common courtesy

But anyway I was just posting common stereotypes not necessarily my views of you or anyone in particular from Connecticut.

About the whole no open spaces thing, I live on a 120 acre farm in rural Alabama (very light density populated) whats the average size homestead in your area? Just curious.

With the whole no open space I though you meant like with wild land as there's a lot of that here (although you being in a bigger state you probably have more). My homestead size is not close to that size but there are two large neighboring farms a few roads down.

I have spent a bit of time in Canada and the word they use instead of yes is "sure".
 
How I Met Your Mother has some nice hockey, doughnut, and polite-ness stereotypes about Canada. I find NYC to be dirty but that's really all cities with me, I'm more of a rural area kind of guy. tigris, remember, you have the WCS:D

Quickly going back to my Puerto Rican/Mexican thing, it seems many people think we are both boarder-jumping, lawn-mowing, taco-eating, goat-herding, drug dealing criminals that'll rob you blind and can fix whole herds of people in just one car!:mad:

(to be fair, Ice hockey is a pretty good sport).
