The Nonsense Thread

Merchants used to sell narwhal horns, proclaiming that they were from an actual unicorn. They made fortunes from them because unicorn horns were believed to possess magical powers.

Looks like I missed a lot of action on this thread! :D

Anyway, just this weekend I saw a David Attenborough doco with a segment on narwhal horns. He said that royalty thought the unicorn horn could detect poison or something, and one explorer who found a horn on a beach, sold it to Queen Elizabeth I for the equivalent of half a million pounds!!

Reminds me of those stories where someone finds something in the attic and it ends up being priceless or someone buys an object for a dollar and sells it for millions.
 
Ah, why hello my fellow ZooChatters! I've missed you guys! It's been at least 2 weeks since my last post, and I've only checked the forums two or three times in the last week (while my profile may say that I'm online, I usually forget to sign off! :o)

Plus, it seems like I'm only here to shoot the breeze (visiting the gallery sporadically and haven't asked many serious zoo questions at all lately)... so why not visit the nonsense thread?!

So, yep, just saying a quick hello so you guys know I'm still here. :p

Homework, mostly. Eats up a lot of my time, plus my sleeping schedules been a mess, so I'm too worn out to check in on the forum.

I think I'd enjoy doing homework much more if it involved zoos/animals. :D

I've seen these videos before, they're pretty good. One of my favorites would be Dr. Seuss vs. Shakespeare. Several members on here might better enjoy the one where Doctor Who kicks Doc Brown's ass!:) Of course, many members are also too old for these videos...

Do you have a smart phone? I use it to check the forum during down time - like when I am on the crapper, like now! Otherwise I will never get a chance to post.
 
Ah, so now that I know that nanoboy only posts while on the toilet, I must ask: "Do you have bowel issues, friend?" :D

And yes, cleusk, I love those Epic Rap Battles. I started watching them only a few days ago actually, starting with the Romeny vs. Obama one, and then I fell in love. I'd have to say my favorites are Romney/Obama, Santa/Moses, Gandhi/Luther King Jr., and Bruce Lee/Clint Eastwood. The Elvis/MJ one was good, but they could've added more.

And BZF, thanks for telling me about the Komodo dragons plans for the Bronx Zoo! I sure am excited - even if all the dragons will ever do on my visits is sleep!
 
No bowel issues. I am having lunch now while typing this post. If you get a smart phone, you can be on the forum during down time like waiting for the bus, in class, in meetings etc. :D
