Chester Zoo Is there enough interest in a walk and talk on either 6 or 7 July 2013

As and when a decision is made towards the end of this month, the bad news will be posted in this thread, but if its good news a new thread will be created and the normal t and c's and meeting time will be posted in that thread.Have to say at the moment I think things are looking like there is reasonable chance that it will go ahead!

I do hope it goes ahead! The original question was is there enough interest? Well would definitely be interested(if im welcome after my criticism of ROTRA) , but i live a 3 hour drive from Chester so at this stage i am not in a position to commit this far in advance.

Looks like I'm unlikely to be able to go now :(
Probably going to have resits so I won't be going home until much later in the summer.
Apologies :(

A little Harsh Bongo...having organised trips and visits - as an organiser I'd much rather have honesty and know definates before arranging - nothing looks worse than telling your host "oh yes we have 25 people coming definate" and then only 10 turning up as people drop out just before the event.
I appreciate you want to go but having a go at someone for being honest with the organiser is a bit off - If you are only joking then I for one missed it :) I really hope it does go ahead but how welcome do you think FelidLover will feel in the future now?

ah I see :O)

I can't comment on never being asked back to the pub - as far as I'm concerned the more the merrier! In fact if you just want a meet up in the Wheatsheaf that's easier to arrange - I'm up for that and you are most welcome :O)

If a definite answer is needed than it will have to be count me out . If a day trip to Chester Zoo was feasible it would not be too bad , but it is a very slow drive from Swansea . Increasing family commitments make it difficult for me to commit that far in advance . Sorry .

Despite what Bongorob says we do not need definite numbers, now what we need to know if is there enough interest,in doing one on either of these dates at the moment, which at the moment I have to say its looking possible that it will go ahead!!

Can't believe the petty squabbling & rudeness that's broken out, unless I'm missing some humour.

Sincerely hope the W&T goes ahead. I'd be there unless I'm somewhere like.... oh Uganda!

I am definitely interested but cannot confirm100% until nearer the time.

i would be very suprised if there is not enough interest. I'm sure the last few walk and talks were over subscribed and there was a waiting list. Can't think this time will be any different?

Actually on the last couple we did fill all the places, and did indeed have a waiting list, but with drop outs and people not turning up,we could have taken a few more each time, and that was with people on the waiting list in case of drop outs taking the places of those that droped out!

right - it makes sense then to get as many people as possible up front!

any thoughts as to the topics and areas we will focus on? any ideas or suggestions?

Its going back to the very first one we did, just a walk round the mammal collection, with the chance to ask Tim questions about what the plans are,but as normal I'm sure Tim will have a couple of subjects that he wants to put the zoo's view across to users of this site!

Wow. Was considering coming to this but there is no way Id ever want to meet anyone so horrible!!

Be careful a censor may come along and delete your post for being "rude".

This is absolutely not a dig at Soozthecat who's fully entitled to her (arguably) completely logical opinion/conclusion but more a concern of an arbitrator coming down a little too harsh on something than was merely (undoubtedly) rude but a long way from offensive.

Can we have some guidelines on this because from where I'm standing quite a lot of people in their time here have, on ocassion, been a little "rude" -I don't have a problem with a little, ocassional, abrasiveness, it's part of the rough and tumble of debate and discourse.

Sorry if I'm being a little over-reactive (which ironically is what I'm accusing the censor of being) but as someone once said, "eternal vigilance is the price of eternal freedom".

With apologies to all for going off-thread.

Well I'm still up for it, rudeness or not! :p
And if there's a trip to the pub then I'm on it, invited or not, as it's a PUBLIC house... :)

I would just like to state that this comment is not connected,in any way towards Tim Rowlands or Chester Zoo,and purely to comments by another user that have been removed!!
