Elephant dies at Baton Rouge Zoo | NOLA.com

Baton Rouge Zoo, which has a very small, outdated elephant exhibit, is now down to a solitary female Asian Elephant. Just like San Antonio Zoo, this facility needs to seriously question whether they will maintain their elephant exhibit or phase out the species. Recently Baton Rouge expanded the visitor viewing area for the elephants, but the smart decision would be to send away the remaining 37 year-old in order to meet strict AZA regulations that will be mandatory in 2016.
