Zoo Basel Okapis from Dallas

Rounding up a decent couple of weeks for the Okapi EEP, Basel has now imported 1.1 Okapi from Dallas in another boost for the program:

I believe they are the second batch of imports from the US in the year!

Hopefully some okapis will be sent from europe to america for more genetic diversity. Not that the north american Okapi program needs new genes as there is a large number of founders I believe.

The SSP / US okapi program is in much better shape than the Old World / Continent. I am glad to cooperation is improving between SSP and EEP. Much needed. Then again, all hail ... the work of White Oak, Yulee both here, ex situ and in situ!!!
