I thought this would be a good idea for a thread since BBQ is such a widlely regionally institution.

Today I had a whole smoked chicken with white bbq sauce (a staple of North Alabama style bbq). What are some of your favorite BBQ dishes and regional styles?

What does the bolded part actually mean? BBQs are institutions in widely spaced regions?

In NZ, sausages and steak are the BBQ staples, perhaps with kebabs too. And onions. And probably bread, potato salad and green salad on the side.

Well there are so many different types of regional bbq in the United States. Memphis, Kansas City, Texas, North Carolina, Alabama. Lots of styles of bbq.

I'm going with Carolina style for pork. But Texas Brisket is awesome. Might as well claim Memphis for the Ribs while I'm here.

There is definitely a Texan on the thread. I also remember those Paul Hogan adverts...I can't remember if they were enticements to visit Down Under; or was he also telling us that Fosters was Australian for "Bee-air"?

Barbecue = beef. End of story. Thread closed.

Guys no need to fight. Thats the great thing about Alabama, we are the bbq crossroads. Our style is defined by not having a style (other than here in north Alabama smoked chicken and white bbq sauce)

If I want a pork sandwich I have to have Carolina style with slaw, Pork Ribs with a thin sauce like Dreamland. Beef Ribs of course texas style. If I want brisket I got to go Burnt ends from KC.

Its all good.
