I've been considering starting a thread like this for a long time and I haven't found any similar. I was hoping that everyone could share any interesting pages/topics etc. on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Google+ and whatever else is out there.

Here's the Zoochat Facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/zoochat

And the facebook page for The Okapi Conservation Project that someone posted information from on here and I've followed it since:

https://www.facebook.com/okapiconservationproject

The WWF's Twitter

https://twitter.com/World_Wildlife
@World_Wildlife

And I'm sure a lot of zoochatter would follow their local zoo's Facebook page.

So I thought I'd give this another go because a lot of zoos share information to varying degrees on sites such as Facebook and Tumblr.

Some of the most interesting ones that I know of are the Tumblrs of San Diego's two parks.

Zoos Victoria has a really great Facebook presence. It's pretty grown up and always has great competitions.

Singapore's zoos have a similar Facebook.

I thought this could just be a good place for people to share any sites that they use to get updates about their own (zoo and wildlife related) interests.

Maybe this would be better in the "websites about zoos and wildlife" forum? I think there is already a "zoo's with facebook pages" thread there.

Many Australian Zoos seem very good at using facebook, most have pretty good sites, although variable in frequency of posting. Altina has a surprisingly active page, for example, whereas the bigger zoos seem to only post genuinely interesting news sporadically, and seem to have more "Cuddles played in the rain today" (actual example!) type stories and "guess the species" competitions.

Overall though, they are far better than the NZ zoos, of which only Wellington has a reasonable page.

This may be inthe wrong place but it is a good local wildlife site/ blog to me here in Essex in the UK .
