The killing of a Sea lion

Its quite similar in Colombia, you can see people trafficking with endangered plants and animals and would get a very low jail conviction.
Personally i have seen even white handed tamarins being sold at the edge of crowded roads.

yep, wildlife crimes in NZ get pitiful consequences for the perpetrator. At the bottom of that article it mentions All Black Andrew Hore being prosecuted for shooting at and killing fur seals. What it doesn't say is that the conviction was quashed by another judge due to Hore's "good character". (The All Blacks are of course NZ's rugby team).

Animal smugglers (targeting geckoes, tuatara, etc) get off even more lightly :(
