Hamerton Zoo Park Hamerton Zoo News 2013

I admit to being surprised at how many UK collections hold Jaguar . However, not many of the places listed strike me as likely to be aiming to breed from their animals - the species is in decline. I stand by my point - if we want diversity in our carnivore collections, then indulging in mutant Tigers (and now, of course, Lions) is a luxury we cannot afford.

Neither is seemingly aiming for a Meerkat per every zoo acre, of course, but don't get me started on that one...

I'm pretty sure it said on the sign it was a female and it was in an enclosure next to the snow leopard. I was surprised to see it to be honest.

The Hamerton FB page has teased "exciting new arrivals" which will are scheduled to be arriving next week.

I hope that these new arrivals actually go on show, unlike several other recent arrivals, otherwise they wont be 'exciting' !

Unless its one of the arrivals that hasn't so far gone on show! The crate certainly looks right for them!

They're teasing us now ;)

It looks like our delivery of some new furry friends has been pushed back to the weekend to hopefully include another box which we weren't expecting yet!
You'll all have to keep guessing till then!!

The mind boggles at what the addition might be, never mind the primary arrival :p

Latest in the saga......

So it looks like I may of jinxed our delivery of new animals by putting it on Facebook!

The delivery has been delayed (yet again!) until the New Year, due to vets and head keepers from the zoo in Europe being on holiday! Can't be helped and we have delayed movements ourselves with this same scenario!

So my apologies but you will all have to be very patient for a few more weeks just like us poor keepers!!

Have a great Christmas everybody! I think 2014 is going to be quite an exciting year for the zoo and I hope you will all continue to support us - Rosa (admin and carnivore keeper)
