Amur tiger population increasing in China?!

I think that this story may be of interest to several people here:

You can count me as one of those people. Thank you for sharing.

If we've learned anything from China's panda adventure, it's that when they get serious about something, they can definitely get it done.

Here's to hope.

China is very serious about its native wildlife, however whether they respectfully observe international wildlife laws and CITES legislation governing exotic species is an entirely different matter. They should definitely clean up their act and thus / hence forthwith resolve several entire order / species family threat status issues.

Shhh! Don't let the Chinese and Vietnamese hear that the tiger population is increasing. There is some good news that just shouldn't be made public, and to me, this qualifies. (I don't mean DavidBrown of course, but the LA Times and other news agencies.)

They don't mention anything about the effect on the locals. If their livelihood begins to suffer it is going to be problem. But that's great news if its true, like you said.
