Dublin Zoo Dublin and the future

This is what I've heard from a good source.
They intend to upgrade the sealion pool and area and also to upgrade the orang housing but neither project has started yet. I have also heard that they are considering adding fish exhibits somewhere. The large enclosure that houses the arctic fox is to be developed for something else, possibly the tapirs but this would mess up the arctic zoning, so time will tell. The okapi area is just opened and looks really well.
I was there last week and the zoo looks very well but there is a lot of walking to see not many animals and I would go more often if there were even a few more species added.
There were grizzled spider monkeys on one of the islands, which I think are new.

It is in the African Plains section, to the right along the lake, past the bongos. It is the former Lion enclosure which has been split into two large sections and new inside housing built. The sections are well wooded and the Okapi look splendid.
 
I think they should change the name from African Plains. Lots of animals in that part of the zoo are forest animals.

I think I remember the wolves were going to and from either exhibits [arctic Fox] do dublin still have arctic foxes?
Are the short clawed otters in the asian forest?:confused:
 
News Update from the zoo's facebook page today -

Major improvements are being made to the orangutan habitat at Dublin Zoo. While this development is ongoing the Bornean orangutans and snow leopards will not be on view. Dublin Zoo is always working to improve the Zoo to ensure the best and most natural environment for the animals and the best possible experience for visitors. This project, Orangutan Forest, is due to be complete by spring 2016.
