Zoo Atlanta Zoo Atlanta 2012-2013

According to the zoos facebook page Sukari gave birth to a female today (August 30th). Its the 20th gorilla born since the exhibit opened and the granddaugther of Willie B.
 
Has anybody heard anything about what will become of the zoo's elephants in the future? Surely they can't continue to house elephants in an exhibit that's less than half an acre with the new AZA standards. Also they only have two elephants currently and I don't see how the exhibit could accommodate a third.

This is going to be the hardest camera to determine if it's frozen up or not. I guess I need to focus on subtle movements.
 
Sloths are an interesting choice for a web cam. They arent all that active which has its bonuses... like always being able to guarentee the sloth is on camera with minimal effort from staff or volunteers. I'd have picked something more lively but it will be interesting to see how it works out. Perhaps there is a little one on the way and they want to show him or her off? Maybe thats why they were chosen. I have no clue though.
 
Unless they've been moved in the last two weeks, the sloths are mixed with Geoffroy's Tamarins, which would be rather more entertaining, webcam-wise, one would have thought!

Exactly what I thought when I saw them - had no idea they were there despite a fair amount of reading up! Very welcome surprise though!
 
Just checked the panda cam and Lun Lun has both the boys. Good luck to her now that they can tag team against her.
