I know it's small but from pictures seems to have some very good exhibits with species I very much look forward to seeing! I was suppose to go today but school and distance got in the way so it has been delayed a few days.

Can you link me to the photo of the hornbill you took?

I'll be heading to the zoo on Friday, is there anything anyone wants me to photograph/find out? I already plan to photograph pretty much every exhibit and find out about the planned Amur Leopard exhibit.

Okay so I was at the zoo earlier today and there were a lot of exhibits under renovation! Besides that the zoo looked good and I saw pretty much everything on-show. First off I'd like to inform all of you that there are only 4 out of the 11 Dingo pups left at the zoo, all others were sent off to other zoos. Also, I have information on the status of the Amur Leopard exhibit but since I'm not sure if the information has been released by the zoo yet I'd prefer to give it via pm. Unlike what I've seen at other zoos, I saw lots of keepers and interns out and about studying how the animals are doing and such. I had an interesting conversation with an intern studying the Brush-Tailed Bettong's stereotyping and trying to figure out how to enrich them more. I got some nice pics, including some of species that need IDing, and I'll post them sooner or later. Since I couldn't get any pics of the area I'll tell everyone here what was in the nocturnal area of the Amazing Animals indoor exhibit- there were three oddly mixed exhibits. One containing Brush-Tailed Bettongs & a Kinkajou, a second containing Rodrigues Flying Fox & a African Brush-Tailed Porcupine, and the third containing Pygmy Slow Lorises (with one that likes to get eye-to-eye with visitors:D) & Malagasy Jumping Rats. One final thing, does anyone know what World of Animals used to be because now it's a very small gift shop with a teasing closed door leading to where past exhibits surely must have been.

Went to Prospect Park this past Monday. There is an African Porc. on the Discovery Trail. The Kangaroos and Wallabies are no longer on display on their walkabout area. Sign said they were working on new exhibits for that area. Can't remember if the small Hornbill on the side of the Discovery Center was a Red Billed or a Von Der Decken's. They also had Wreathed Hornbill, Monal, Prevost Squirrel, and Rock Cavy.

- Thanks for the info. That is weird that the kangaroos are no longer on exhibit. They just put the dingos in so i thought it we be safe from closure. I loved that small walkthrough exhibit. Were the emus on display?

Shame the huge wallaby/goose/kangaroo enclosure has been closed, it was the best enclosure at the zoo! Though it was a bit of a waste of space for just three animals. Hopefully they'll be building something worth the loss (perhaps they are turning the area into several smaller enclosures with neat animals or perhaps turning the area into the new Amur Leopard enclosure!)

According to the monthly member's newsletter, there are at least 5 new Anderson's Crocodile Newts on exhibit.

Also, 4 Scarlet Ibises have been added to the aviary on Discovery Trail.

From a WCS press release (http://www.wcs.org/press/press-releases/five-california-sea-lions.aspx):
"Two female sea lions arrived at WCS’s Prospect Park Zoo after being orphaned and stranded off the coast of Point Hueneme, Calif. Upon rescue, the pups were brought to Six Flags Vallejo in Ventura County California for initial care and rehabilitation. They were brought to Prospect Park Zoo on a recommendation from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service after it was determined they were unlikely to survive in the wild.
The pups are doing well and learning basic behaviors from the zoo’s animal keepers. They are on exhibit in the sea lion pool along with the Prospect Park Zoo’s two other females, Stella and Beebe."
