Seen all species or subspecies of any animal?

I feel as though I saw more than one in the nocturnal house at Willowbank, am I imagining that?
you must be imagining that. The only species on display there are North Island browns. They have a great spotted off-display but you definitely wouldn't have seen that.

I've seen two out of those three species wild. Guess which is the odd one out.....

I am as envious of you, as you are of me.

I saw the platypus in the atherton tablelands outside Cairns in North Queensland, though I can probably see them in the Yarra River 5mins walk from my house.

Where did you see the tiger and rhino?

platypus was not the odd one out.....

(in fact Pertinax has probably seen more platypus than you have nanoboy!)

Where did you see the tiger and rhino?

Tiger was the odd one out.

Rhino. Kaziranga. Assam.
Platypus. Tasmania- several places. I rate them no harder to see there than e.g. Water voles in the UK (possibly easier:) )

It is, of course, no bad thing that the American Mink is getting rarer and rarer - part of the issue is that in my immediate area (County Durham, North Yorkshire and Northumberland) the resurgence of the Otter has thoroughly decimated the population of American Mink :p a handy little side effect is that water voles are now pretty common in this area.

Its almost as if the Otter has got its own back on the Mink for filling its vacant niche during the Otter's years of near-extinction. And great of course that its resurgence has not only greatly reduced Mink numbers but allowed Water Voles to make a comeback too.

I've scanned through my life list of mammal species and tried to put together a list of what groups I've seen every species of- I tried to make sure the groups totaled at least 4 species. I determined species according to the IUCN red list. I also included some groups where I'm barely missing the complete collection.

Seen every species:

The Suborder of: Vermilingua (anteaters) 4 total

The Family of:
Hyaenidae (hyenas) 4 total
Camelidae (camelids) 6 total (only domestic camels)
Ursidae (bears) 8 total

The genus of:
Chaetophractus (hairy armadillos) 3 total, just had to include it ;)
Chiropotes (bearded sakis) 4 total
Conepatus (hog-nosed skunks) 4 total
Oryx (oryx antelopes) 4 total
Felis (small felines) 4 or 5 total
Papio (baboons) 5 total
Ateles (spider monkeys) 7 total
Eulemur (true lemurs) 12 total (I believe I've seen both Eulemur rufus and Eulemur rufifrons. I visited both Plzen and Jihlava in July of 2010. If anyone can confirm or deny this, it would be greatly appreciated)

I'm only missing 1 species from the following:

The order of: Perissodactyla (odd toed ungulates) 15/16

The Subfamily of: Otariinae (sea lions) 5/6

The genus of:
Ovis (wild sheep) 4/5
Kobus (aquatic antelope) 4/5
Lycalopex (south american foxes) 5/6
Callithrix (Atlantic Forest marmosets) 5/6
Capra (wild goats) 8/9
Tragelaphus (spiral-horned antelopes) 8/9

I'm only missing 2 species from the following:

Subfamily Arctocephalinae (fur seals) 7/9
And 8/10 skunks (plus no stink badgers unfortunately) :(

And 10/13 otters, sometimes 10/12 (I don't count Japanese otter or Congo clawless personally haha)

These lists are for what I have photographed, let me start with Suidae

Genus: Sus

Sus barbatus- specifically Sus barbatus barbatus
Sus cebifrons- specifically Sus cebifrons negrinus

Genus Babyrousa:

Babyrousa celebensis

Genus Photamochoerus:

Potamochoerus porcus

Keep in mind, I have seen other Suidae species and I have a pretty good idea what subspecies I saw of those species, but like I said, this list is for what I have photographed

I will make my lists for other mammal groups later
