Hiya, I have actually visited the centre to look at their cats and enclosures, and have called twice since requesting this information, to be told my details will be passed on to the keepers but I have heard nothing back, I have had the same issue with Port Lympne.

this autumn an in situ program has been approved to preserve it
most problem is with hybrid they still do not know how to be sure individuals are pure or not (also within the 80 known in captivity )

I still wonder if genetic management isn't being made harder by the British tendency to cling onto grampia as being a good subspecies, which seems these days to be pretty much a minority opinion. It would be interesting to have a few European (or any non UK) chatters' take on this issue.

Even the Highland Wildlife Park have now rounded down the number of their wildcats which are believed to be pure.
