Hix Does Uganda (Part I) - All But A Shoebill

But after all, the shoebills at UWEC were kept in a quite natural looking enclosure. I loved it, and it was definitely an experience quite different to watching Shoebills at Berlin TP.

Enjoyed reading all your experiences in such a wunderfull country ! Any plans for a new "Shoebill-expedition" ?
PS : I'm also a great Shoebill-fan and think with pleasure back to the 3 specimens I took care for while working at Walsrode.....

those three wise gorillas are brilliant. I would definitely have bought them too.

I wonder how long it will be before I get to Uganda.....

Great blog Hix, really enjoyed reading about the adventures over the last few months on here.

Thanks P.:)

Thanks for all the positive comments!

Yes.

It is my intention to return to Uganda next August, to do a couple of things I didn't get to do this time round. Seeing shoebills is one of those things.

Anyone want to join me?

:p

I guess your plan will be to go to the best Papyrus Swamp location you found this time and just work it until you succeed.

When I was in Kaziranga in Assam some years ago I heard the story of a (wealthy) American visitor who wanted to see Tiger and said she wasn't going to leave the area until she'd seen one. I think it took her three weeks.

Wow! I'd be very tempted except for the cost! I'd like to go to Budongo forest.

And I'd like to see de Brazza monkeys.

Well, if we get a larger group the cost will come down. Budongo (and the Royal Mile) are two places I want to visit.

And seeing DeBrazzas would be cool (and the Golden Monkeys at Mgahinga).

When do we leave?

At this stage I'm planning on mid-August.
