Hi all,

I will be in Bali next week, any recommendations?

I will go to the zoo, however unsure of what other animal attractions are worth seeing.

Thanks Zooboy, l am keen to see the birds of paradise.

Will try to get there.

the bird park is good in terms of having a lot of interesting and rare species, and it is very well-looked after in general but be prepared for small aviaries! The walk-through New Guinea aviary is very good.

The Bali Zoo you cannot miss out on either now: Bali Zoo | Get Close And Personal With Our Wildlife
Is it not that an Aussie versed in zoo management went out and did the place up?

Look out for the Bruijn's or dusky pademelons! They also have Sumatran elephants I believe …

Whether the animal presentation and rides / photography with animals events are still on I do not know … (personally I do not like the latter).

Hi all,

Wondering has anyone visited the Bali Safari and Marine Park, there is allot of PR around promoting the place but fom what l can find online it's expensive at $49 US and actually not allot to see, thoughts?

Of course, if you should happen to bump into a miraculously surviving Bali Tiger then
a) get plenty of photographs
b) do not get eaten

:D

Thanks guys will do!

Just heading off to the bird park and zoo now.

It never ceases to amaze me just how excited I get when I am about to head off to visit a new zoo :)))

Interested to hear your thoughts on both the Bird Park and Zoo. I loved the Bird Park but that may be because it was the first time I'd ever seen hornbills, toucans, birds-of-paradise and many new parrots, birds of prey and waterfowl species. The aviaries are indeed small but I would say the park is no worse, on welfare grounds, than many slightly outdated aviaries in western collections.

You can find my thoughts on the Zoo, on the other hand, here. http://www.zoochat.com/238/bali-zoo-august-2012-a-283204/ .
