Are you possibly linking what you had in your head with him rescuing them... to the recent Denmark debacle?

I really can't remember it was a while ago now, thinking about it i think it could just be a case I read he rescued them, but I still haven't a clue where I read it haha
Well i have certainly never heard anything of the sort from any of the staff at SLWAP.
We can all make mistakes,I do it all the time its a human thing we all do it!I've edited the post as it was clearly wrong and me confusing myself, sorry guysmy bad!
what happens if the baby is rejected after all this interference from owner, children keepers and whoever else has been in with it? How likely is it that it could happen? and is it feasible to hand rear a giraffe if it came to it?
and also is it standard practice to separate mum and calf this early on in their relationship? (Just going off the video(s) on fb for this one, seems to be very close to Belle in an area too small for mum with an adult the other side of a fence)

We should have expected this really considering he also handed his children a newborn tiger cub to hold and play with...
A newborn tiger cub which was then promptly rejected by her mother, and lived a short and very humanised life as a result, ending in murky - to put it tactfully - circumstances!
What amazes me is how many people on Facebook appear to have more Giraffe experience than me, know all about the behaviors and risks or question my judgement with my own precious children , all who have grown up around every type of animal large or small and with a deep love and passion for them. This is my zoo, my animals and my passion to conserve them. I have this passion to preserve and conserve because I had pets from birth and was milking cows on a farm at 10 years old ! I was surrounded by animals 20 times my size and loved it. My children have grown up to appreciate Rhinos, Giraffes and any other animal close up if suitably supervised and it does not cause distress for the animal. I suppose when you have never lived with them or worked around them for 20 years then it is impossible to understand the wonderful relationships we have with our partners on this planet. We dont have pets, we have amazing animal that are ambassadors for their species in the wild. a bit of love and care never hurt any animal if done by experienced and understanding people. Sociial media can be a useful tool but seriously propagates negativity and so called experts who actually know nothing !
Being as we know he reads this site, you have to wonder whether he includes David Brown among those he refers to as "so-called experts who know nothing" -I imagine he will, considering Brown is among those who have openly stated on Zoochat there are no West African giraffes in captivity outside the native range![]()
