Best Zoo is a sad story i am afraid...

It had a small revival within the Zodiac-Zoos time, but i am afraid (I hope that i am wrong) that the zoo will evolve into a big pettingzoo, instead of a real zoo. Rare species are swapped with ordinary species. Not strange if you know that the future is absolutly not clear, not for the owner or the city...


Small remark... There are more 'small' zoo's in the Netherlands that have rare-species in their collection. Grisons in Uilenpark de Paay as example, or stripped and spotted hyena's, baribal (black-bear) in ZieZoo...

Recently, Best Zoo got 2 interesting new species: Lowland Paca (Cuniculus paca) and Eastern Wallaroo (Macropus robustus).

After a break of almost 2 years here again some news from Best Zoo :
first breeding in the Netherlands of Tamanduras - a young born 26 Feb. 2013 !
first breeding in Best Zoo itself - 3 seval-kittens. By a camera placed in the indoor-enclosure the public can view the development of the young.

The Sri Lanka Leopard has given birth to 2 young which are however both being hand-raised.
