No, as of now, they are having diffculties getting him/her into a crate.

Thats neat! I am not sure if this is true, but was she born with a disability or something along those lines. I thought someone told me that. Can't remeber, but its to bad she is leaving I really like that species. They should get another younger one and have feeding times!

I was wondering if the zoo will have lion cubs in the future? I know there is not enough space but are they going to increase the space in the future? How old are the lions now? and when one dies will the inpregnat a lion?

I think we've been over this before ...
At the moment, it is impossible for us to have lion cubs, since we only have one female and she has been spayed. We will probably have to wait for at least Rowdy and Nokanda to pass away before any more lions are brought into the zoo.

As for your question on age, Jerroh and Lyndy (the latest offspring) were born in 2000 so there about 8 years old,Nokanda is about 14 years old and as for Rowdy I think he is about 11 years old.Im hoping they do end up gettign an actually pride of lions as they used to have a male and about 4 females plus cubs alot. Also, another reason why they may have decided to stop breeding beetween Rowdy and Nokanda is becuase they've already had 3 liters of cubs with fairly large litter #'s so there genes are well represented (I think they had cubs in 1996,1998 and 2000)

I don't ever remember seeing lion cubs I want to some year though :P

I remember when they had Jerroh and Lyndy. They were about three months old when I went in 2000 and they were up on the kopje pokign there heards up from behind the rocks. Then we saw them at the glass playing while Nokanda was trying to calm them

There has been so little activity, does anyone know of anything new or any births with the zoo? Other than their 2008 year of the frog leap frog fundrasing event?

Most of the (large animal) breeding is coordinated for spring babies, so don;t expect too much activity until March or April of next year! I do believe a sacred ibis hatched recently ...

Cheetah cubs

The two cheetah cubs have been moved up to the savannah cheetah house from the off-exhibit breeding centre ... they should be going on exhibit in the next few weeks, once they get accustomed to their new surroundings.

Err,Yet again I'll miss seeing the young cheetah cubs! Thanks for the news, have they been named

Yes, they have names ... but I don't remember them! They are both 3 syllables, and very "African" sounding ... but hard to remember
