I hadn't been keeping good track of this year's mammal count. In no particular order:

Went on a field trip with my local Audubon society to the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve and to the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary in Orange County. Between the two places we saw around 80 species and 19 of those were new birds for me.

Where did you see all these Boof?

I visited buffalo creek and leanyer **** pit which are next to each other. fogg dam and harrison dam, howard springs, east arm, southport and middle arm boat ramps. A mary river fishing trip and a quad bike ride along dundee beach to the mouth of the finnis. My mate lives at livinstone and gets a heap of birds around his block. The gouldian finch was along the road to edith falls down near katherine and the hooded parrot was at the cematery at pine creek. My favourite were the rainbow pitta at howard springs, the gouldian finch and the hooded parrot. The hooded parrot has to be seeen in the flesh to be truly appreciated. By far my bird of the trip. stunning colours and a bit smaller then I imagined. I thought it was the size of a rosella but it was more like a red rump. fogg dam is great. I got a heap of birds there by just driving across the dam wall.

Although officially the ones in your neck of the woods are the only ones in England, unofficially there are populations clinging on in Cumbria, Northumberland and North Yorkshire - so keep your eyes peeled elsewhere, you never know what you might spot!

Before I left for work I got 3 good views of the bird, but no good pics. Overall I got three new birds today and will go looking for some sparrows tomorrow.
