Cockatoos and Keas

I've been looking around online, and have seen different sources say cockatoos are in the family Cacatuidae, and that keas and kakas are in the family Nestoridae....and others that have placed them in the family Psittacidae with other parrots. Does anyone happen to know which is correct and which is incorrect?

Also, to make this post zoo-related...does anyone know if there are any New Zealand kakas in captivity? :)

Thanks

It's a matter of which scientist you want to believe, one is this opinion the other another opinion ! IMO Keas, Cockatoos and all other parrots should all be placed in the family Psittacidae.
I guess kakas are kept in New Zealand zoos but out-side New Zealand only the Wilhelma Zoo ( Stuttgart ) in Germany has the Kaka in it's collection.

It is a matter of scientific opinion, but for me, the best, regularly-updated current overview of avian taxonomy comes from IOC World Bird List - and they currently have Nestoridae and Cacatuidae separate to the Psittacidae. However, they are all clustered together, so it probably comes down to how divergent you are prepared to let a family be!
