I did not end up going, no. I was leery of how the weather would turn out, and I didn't want to get caught out, haha. I will, however, be at Member's Night on Friday.

Ah, I was kind of hoping were would run into each other haha. Sadly I think only the birds (4 total) will be out in the Plains and we will have possibly 5 foxes and only 1 dog.
 
The zoo has a new species in World of the Insect, the Mexican Dwarf Orange Crayfish.

And the zoo has cut off access from cave to forest in the vampire exhibit for renovation. They all currently remain in the cave side.

The bat eared foxes are still in Night Hunters...
 
The Crowned Crane sign has been taken off at Giraffe Ridge.

The Pelican sign has been appropriately moved to the Vulture area but it replaced the Lappet-faced Vulture sign.

Edit: the Crowned Cranes will be moved to the Plains.
 
Another edit! The zoo is displaying their bat-eared foxes that were born 2 years ago in Africa.

Bad news: The Lappet-faced Vulture sign is completely gone.

So, just some additional notes to what Moebelle has already shared...

The two African wild dogs that we currently have on site are only meant to be companions until the other male, who is recommended to breed with our female, arrives. They will not be on exhibit together (they will rotate), but they will be kept in close proximity behind-the-scenes.

The species to inhabit the mixed-species savanna will be introduced in phases. The first phase will feature the pelicans, cranes, and vultures, the second phase will feature the ostriches, the third phase will feature the guineafowl, and the fourth and final phase will feature the kudu, impala, and gazelles.

-White-winged scoters have been added to the Arctic Sea Cliffs exhibit in Wings of The World.

-There is an unknown new addition to the Savanna exhibit in Wings of The World as well.

-A new over-hanging barrier has been added around the Japanese macaque island.

Already announced those ;):o But I'm glad you did again because of all the other news that was posted lately.

Here's another one to add on: Saari and Humphrey (Bactrian Camels) now have access to both yards so they all three can live together.

I've always been annoyed by the fact that a domesticated species such as those camels get such a large area in Wildlife Canyon and are bred almost yearly yet an actual endangered species such as the Przewalski's Wild Horses (which have real history at the zoo, too) are kept in a yard so small the zoo is only permitted to keep two and aren't allowed to breed them!

Ever thought that the older horse is to old to breed, maybe? Raisin and Bellatessa were the same age when one of them died of old age (the zoo never announced which one died).

But you've always said yourself that the zoo isn't allowed the breed them! And age doesn't matter in the long run because they could always source some more for breeding in the future. And even if they decide they don't want to breed horses again, it's a huge waste of space and makes a joke out of real conservation efforts by making such a big deal over breeding Domestic Bactrian Camels! That space could easily be given to a real endangered species!

More news: The cranes; vultures, pelicans, and Guineafowl will be out tomorrow!
