The Nonsense Thread

The CNN geographers might be more switched on than we think. Maybe there is a Ukraine in Pakistan, a Hong Kong in Brazil, and a Kuala Lumpur in Indonesia after all.

Ok, so I was just giving a guy in the office a hard time about his fluorescent yellow backpack that I told him looks like he has been using since high school. I said "you still have your Trapper Keeper in there right?". He stared at me blankly and asked "what's a Trapper Keeper?".

Does anyone here remember Trapper Keepers?

Never heard of one (nor my work colleagues around me) until I googled it. it seems more of a US thing than a UK thing, it appears to have made its way to Oz....

yeah, never heard of them. According to Wikipedia they are a US, Canadian and Latin American thing.

I liked Otterbum until I found out that it was actually Otterburn and it was just that the type on the map was too small :(

I've never heard of them either.

You're on your own with this one Nano.

I think the guy with the yellow backpack is owed an apology from nanoboy.

I had several over the course of my middle to the end of my high school years. Didn't really use them for much, just had one. Then I ditched them when I went to college.

****ing Austria? (It is a real place).

Wow - about 30kms north of Salzburg. Next time I'm in that part of the world I'm definitely visiting that town!

He was sent a Google Images link for his education. You're all welcome. Surely you all saw the South Park Trapper Keeper episode?

Anyway, Trapper Keepers will make it to Oz one day - we seem to get the latest trends later than everywhere else anyway.

For example, political incorrectness is still the norm here. We have a place/structure in my state that is officially named "Chinaman's Hat". :D
