Guess the species #6

Traditionally, there are two species of wildebeest - Connochaetes taurinus (Blue Wildebeest or Brindled Gnu) and C. gnou (Black Wildebeest or White-tailed Gnu). Up to five species have recently been proposed, however.

For reasons I cannot explain, if I mean both or either species in general I say 'wildebeest', but I use the 'gnu' forms to refer to each species specifically.

No. 5 is, in fact, a wildebeest, but I'll hold fire on confirming which just for a short time... :p

Sweet. Cheers.

1. Moose
2. Camel

No-one's even guessed the right family yet for No. 1...

(this post contains an implied hint for No. 2 as well...)

1) Western Sitatunga (Tragelaphus spekii gratus)
2) Dromedary (Camelus dromedarius)
3) Blesbok ( Damaliscus pygargus phillipsi)
4) Cape Ground Squirrel (Xerus inauris)
5) Black Wildebeest (Connochaetes gnou)

Reckon I know the collection too.

We have now hit the right family for number 1, but not the right species.

3, 4 and 5 have been guessed, but not more than two of the three correct in the same post so far.

No. 2 still eludes people - though one post was on the right track...

Not sure if TLD has the collection right or not - care to put your money where your mouth is? ;)

(actually, if you have got the zoo right it will probably help with No. 2...)

I think I figured the zoo out.

1) Arabian Oryx
2) Red River Hog
3) Blesbok
4) Cape Ground Squirrel
5) Blue Wildebeest

I'll go with:

1. Lesser Kudu
2. Northern White Rhinoceros
3. Springbok
4. Cape Ground Squirrel
5. White-tailed Gnu

TLD and robmv both just one answer away now - and all have been guesses correctly somewhere!

1) Arabian Oryx
2. Northern White Rhinoceros
3. Springbok
4. Cape Ground Squirrel
5. White-tailed Gnu

...and we have a winner! :)

The zoo was Dvur Kralove, of course - the only zoo in the world with that combination.

Just about to start work now so will post the full photos later. Over to you, Chli!

well I won by not actually making a guess on a single photo (also known as cheating), so I shall pass the turn on to whoever Maguari decides is next in line.

In that guess, we'll go to 'first correct guesses' and by my count it's pretty unambiguous:

1 - Thylo
2 - TLD
3 - Moebelle
4 - Thylo
5 - Thylo

Thylo - your go! :)

Well alright then:)

I figured I'd follow the same trend and do the same zoo for all the photos!

I figured the cropped images might be a bit difficult to see and what not so I've included a hint for each into the title;)

It seems it didn't work right for the last three so the titles are "Tom", "My baby!" and, "Natalie Portman".
