Guess the species #6

Just out of curiosity, TLD - as I have no idea what species to guess this time around, and will likely not try anyways :p - why are your attachments named after Byzantine emperors and princesses...?

My best guess is that it's some strange hint as to the location of the zoo these photos were taken at, but you gave no indication that you included hints in the titles of your attachments in the first place, nor that these photos were all taken at the same institution. So instead of wasting time trying to come up with elaborate ways that it would make sense for those names to be there, I figure I'd just ask you why they were there instead. :D

Because it amused me to do so :p and because I am very interested in Byzantine history and the Porphyrogénnētos.

so, based on TLD's comment in post #461 I will say:

1) Tibetan Golden Cat Pardofelis temminckii tristis
2) Eurasian Lynx Lynx lynx lynx
3) no idea
4) I still think mustelid or something similar
5) South Luzon Cloud Rat Phloeomys cumingi
6) Purple-Faced Langur Trachypithecus vetulus monticola

Currently there are three spot-on answers and a few near-misses floating around :p

By the by, success goes to the person who matches up all six rather than the person with the most individually correct answers.

1) Tibetan Golden Cat Pardofelis temminckii tristis
2) Central Asian Lynx Lynx lynx isabellinus
3)
4)
5) South Luzon Cloud Rat Phloeomys cumingi
6) Purple-Faced Langur Trachypithecus vetulus monticola

I still can't even tell what part of the animal number three is, but seeing it looks like stripes I'll guess at East African Banded Mongoose Mungos mungo colonus.

An additional clue - although none of the source photographs are in the gallery, I have uploaded photographs of 3/6 of the taxa concerned into the gallery in the past. Of these, two are of the exact individual.

Okay, I will clarify my last hint further ;)

An additional clue - although none of the source photographs are in the gallery, I have uploaded photographs of 3/6 of the taxa concerned into the gallery in the past. Of these, two are of the exact individual.

Species 1 is in the gallery.
Species AND individual 3 is in the gallery.
Species AND individual 4 is in the gallery.

those aren't hints. Those are invitations to look through hundreds of photos in various galleries.....

Yeah, but it's my gallery I am talking about rather than the gallery in general :p
