But are the other zoos who are offering discounts at this time of year in such a fragile financial state as Twycross?, I would have thought they were in need of every penny they could get at this time of year, by all means offer discounted admissions off season as an incentive to visit when things are quiet, but during the school holidays they should be after full money from everyone, including red heads.
Look at it this way; if this promotion brings in more people than usual they could well benefit at two levels - firstly, the extra footfall, even if entering for free, might lead to a higher level of profit in the shop and cafe. Secondly, someone visiting for the first time as a result of taking advantage of the offer could well provide repeat custom.
Plus, people will rarely come alone, and it's unlikely every member of a family is a gingernut.

New giraffe house
Has anyone got anymore information on this? My brother was there at the weekend and asked where the giraffes had gone (he's not that much of a zoo fan as you can tell) and a keeper mentioned there was going to be a new giraffe exhibit but all that they could say was that it's going to be built for 2015.
I haven't been to Twycross in a few years. I'm a long-time Chester crony but I'd be interested to know whether they'll be breeding and what species they're having? I know Twycross don't have giraffes - can someone tell me when they left?

Well thats news to me,that Giraffes are arriving back in 2015,because at this moment in time they haven't applied for planning permission to build anything yet!!
Also I think they will find it very hard to get Giraffes from the EEP given how they went out of them when they did!!!

For the sake of the decent members on this zoo chat would you please consider returning to zoo chat as a moderator, it has gone right down hill since you packed in and replaced by schnorers. I can see nothing at all amusing in ridiculing Twycross Zoo in its present state, I want it to go forward and thrive, as it did when Miss Badham ran the show, on here it is now considered by some who claim to know it all to be highly amusing to ridicule those who are like myself, I , just like the elephants have a VERY THICK SKIN, and do not suffer fools gladly, when I was 27 I had my first house, a good new car and earning good money, just as my own son who is 28 is doing now, he does not spend morning noon and night on a computer taking the mick out of decent people.

I am a season pass holder at Y.W.P and if anyone has been recently will agree that it is not short of visitors. They are doing late evening extended openings on certain dates throughout August. After 3pm the admission is halved (approximately) but remains open til 8ish.The first one was a resounding success ( a bit TOO successful from my point of view as I was barged out the way and trodden on by numerous little urchins who should show more respect and manners!) and from the reviews I have read since they have started then there will be lots of return visits over the coming months. So just because promotions take place you shouldn't always assume that they are "desperate" for customers. No one can have too many
I may be visiting in the next week or so,havent been here for a good few years but am willing to drive 80 miles to see what they have done right or wrong since my last time.
I think this is very bad for a moderator to do something so petty it is the sort of thing that you would expect of children in the play ground not a grown up.
Posts are removed by the moderators because they have the power to do it so how come a moderator is allowed to get away with doing this sort of thing and not get it removed or is it one rule for one and another for the moderators they can do and put what they want joke or not.

You have hit the nail on the head there, one rule for one, and another for the powers that be and his cronies, perhaps it is a ploy to sicken us and hopefully we will go away quietly, that is something that I have never done, I am going nowhere, despite its very bad faults, there are still some decent members on here who it is always a pleasure to discuss things with.

The Twycross giraffe were transferred to: After male Justin died in December 2011, both remaining giraffe … females Harriet and Keisha were transferred to the Blair Drummond Safari Park in October 2012.
