Chester Zoo bengal tigers still at the zoo

Cannot answer any of your questions as i have posted all i know, but have to admit Kiangs suggestion of Kepala going to Edinburgh sounds reasonable.

I have a theory, perhaps when Edinburgh move their Amur tigers upto the HWP at the end of the year they will have room for a Sumatran tiger, which i know they are looking to get.

I thought the tiger area was earmarked for the giant pandas?

Isn't the Lion area earmarked for Pandas, however the Lions will be moving into the tiger enclosure when they move out, or thats how I understand it.

The Siberian musk deer and Chinese goral enclosure on the area known as Whitsun woods is the preferred location for the pandas

We were told by a keeper that Khali & Rani (Bengal Tigers) left the zoo about 3 weeks ago to go back to West Midlands Safari Park. :( Hopefully they won't try to spray paint them white! The new female Sumatran has arrived but is still in quarantine. Unfortunatly she can't breed with Kepala because he has so many siblings his blood line is "over-represented". The new male will arrive next year and until then Kepala and the female will share the enclosure on rotation.

Just a quick question who says that you are not allowed to breed bengal tigers? I remember seeing a documentry on Dartmoor and they got done for illegal tiger breeding? anybody clarify?

I've never heard of that Vulpes. I can't see it neing true that there is a law prohibiting the breeding of Bengal tigers. It's more likely to be a studbook recommendation.

Dartmoors tigers are amur. I can't remember why it was illegal but it was something to do with a license i think, possibly they were told they were not allowed any more tigers with the set up they had (under the old owner). Something like that rings a bell but i could be wrong. Completely different situation to the bengals

I think the biggest problem is find homes for the bengal tigers, because you are not allowed to breed these anymore and tiger cubs are a real crowd puller so most zoo are stocking the amur or Sumatran tigers.

it was mentioned in the above post ?

I would have ignored it but I had the question in the back of my mind after ellis daw as done for illegal breeding of tigers! Thought it sounded strange alright!
