If only they hadn't shelved the Dodo embryo work they were doing a few years back :p
Who told you it had stopped the last time I was talking with Mr Rowlands,he told me the work was still proceeding but a few snags had been hit with it,the biggest was that they were extinct!

Good to see they're still soldiering on. :D

I'm sure the staff have wishlists of their own, we are only having fun!!!!!!

To be fair, as I can only use my phone for internet I only get a limited data allowance each month so I am careful to only look at threads that I am interested in to find news and updates (which this thread is about ultimately, news and updates on Islands). I am all for people posting wish lists, but maybe if it has it's own thread (think it may do somewhere in the form of which species would you like to see at your local collection) they can be posted more appropriately?

My two cents, thinking about what species actually tie in with current and potential future projects at the zoo and what species are actually about in captivity, I would like to see javan langurs added to Islands at some stage

Ok, I'll be serious now.

Is there a species list anywhere? I'm wondering what they plan on keeping in the Papua area.

There are lots of interesting species from there that seem underrepresented in Europe and the UK in particular. Tree kangaroos, birds of paradise, cassowary, singing dogs, echidna. While they might not draw in the punters, I think those would all be memorable species that would leave an impression.

But the area looks pretty small on the map. Will it just be for their current Papuan animals?

If Chester brings in Clouded Leopards, Sifaka, Sumatran Rhino and Aye Aye in the next 5 years I will be a very happy Zoo Geek :O)

...oh yes and Binturong.....and Margay.....and Civets......and Genets.......and honey badger.....and Ethiopian Wolves.......and any small cat species really!!

am I asking too much?

I can see you will be a very unhappy karoocheetah, unless you count one out of ten as a success. Sorry.
