Looks like Alton towers is following Chessington and spending £1.8 million pounds on a new sea life centre in the park.
Seems as though the sea life brand will every where soon, my local one in Oban is the first ever centre built in 1972 and i can only apologise to every zoo and aquarium visitor out there.

More jobs as Alton Towers sinks £1.8m into Sea Life venture

yes, i read this a few weeks back, apprently according to trusty informant they used to keep sealions!

Wheels within wheels. Merlin group own Alton Towers and Sealife Centers (amongst others) so put one attraction next to another attraction and you'll need to spend more time there - better stay in one of the hotels they have there aswell then. Cynical? Me?

Or right on the money

Ooo, an entertainment company trying to make money? The basterds!..

What's your point?

I enjoyed the sea life centre in the Netherlands, its nothing major but i still thought it was fun to visit, even though it wasn't the cheapest ever. Still, Antwerp's Aquatopia ain't all that better and that's 15 euro i believe...

Your opening comment answered your question jwer.
I have visited several of the Sealife centers around the country and have enjoyed my visits. I have also visited other aquariums such as Blue Planet, the Deep etc and enjoyed them aswell. But would I go to Alton Towers to see marine life? No. I would visit one of their many existing sites where the cost of my family ticket would probably be the same as a single adult entry to Alton Towers.

thats very true, its very expensive trip just to see the aqaurium

just to let people know i am planning to visit alton towers next summer, so i will get some pictures then, unless someone beats me to it.

Can you only buy a single ticket for both the attractions together? Then i understand why everyone was complaining, because i didn't pick that up initially...

Alton Towers :: TowersTimes

look in history section and then old rides

Some light shed on the Alton Sealions, also note they used to have a parrot show

(thanks hyak2!)

The parrot show was supplied by the Bloom family who have a number of sea lion and bird shows at a number of parks including Flamingoland. I knew someone who looked after the sea lions. The male would apparently sometimes get out and swim in the lake at night and return back to the pen in the morning. The sea lions were owned by Alton Towers.
