Has anyone seen this show on Animal Planet? It's pretty good, It's usually at some zoo or wildlife park where a baby animal is orphaned and has to be hand-reared by the keepers. I've seen a couple the past few days, there was a giraffe, walrus, and a lynx. it usually follows the first year or so of their lives.
 
I've seen that. I like the show a lot. The lynx episode was filmed at the S.D. Zoo. Is that right? I haven't seen it in a while. If not the lynx, it was another episode with a medium sized cat that was filmed there.
 
Yea that was at the SD Zoo. I dont know how long ago it was filmed, but if it was fairly recently then the lynx should still be one of the zoos animal ambassadors still
 
Actually Growing Up Lynx was filmed a few years ago. Kisa, the Siberian lynx is still an animal ambassador and is one of my favorite animals. She is quite the cat and diva to top it off! :)
 
yea I've seen it on during the week, I believe at 10AM and 4PM PST. Theres a lot of reruns, but that's no problem if you havnt seen them before :)
 
There was a growing up grizzly I remember, Brad pitt narrated it, or is it completely seperate to the series??
 
I love the show!! Its awsome seeing how people do their best to help the babies who have no other chance!! I particularly like the lion one! Is there a tiger one?
 
yea, there's a tiger one. the mother had 4 cubs, and the facility only had room for 2 of them. it's probably my favorite, but that might just be because of the tigers :)
 
I loved the documentery too, I personally like part 2 of 3 the most though.
Was going to say my favourite bit but I don't wanna spoil it for you! ;)

Is Kisa still at the SD Zoo, and is she still an ambassador? Hope she is having a good life!
 
I've seen several, most recent was giraffe and the first one I saw was Polar bear and I rememeber seeing Giant Panda (or was this a different program set in a chinese zoo dedicated to Giant pandas)

There were 27 episodes of the Growing Up series and according to an email I got from Animal Planet, there are not any plans to make any more episodes. The episodes were:
Wolf,Zebra,Baboon,Panda,Walrus,Black Leopard,Sitka Deer,Camel,Rhino,Giraffe,Penguin,Lynx,Gorilla,Hyena,Orangutan,Moose,Seal,Clouded Leopard,Elephant,Polar Bear,Cheetah,Lion,Tiger,Black Bear,Marsupial(Quoll,Wombat,Tasmanian Devil), and two separate Growing Up Grizzly's. The Camel episode was filmed at Southwick's Zoo where I work and Patsy the camel is due to have her own little one sometime this Winter.
