Taronga Zoo Can anyone

Can anyone...tell me what this thread is about? Chimpanzees?

information for orangs is already listed on this site and is probably the best public information on orangs in australia on the net.

I remember on an ep of the zoo they showed the alpha male getting castrated not sure if it was or wasn't Lubutu. But after the process the male chimp didn't seem less lively,

how many other males are at Taronga?

That chimp was Lubutu. I'm not sure how many other males there are, believe Sandali has gone to Adelaide Zoo, and I know of two other adults 14 y.o. Shabani and 12 y.o. Chimbuka. Also there's a male infant, Sule.
How many chimps are there at Taronga? 20-ish?

When do they move back into their renovated exhibit? Does anyone know if they are going to be divided into two troops?

A vollie said it was planned later this month but due to the weather it might not be for one or two more months. When I went on the last day of January they were still putting up a MASSIVE climbing frame and there were scaffolding planks and frames all over the enclosure.

I think they will stay one troop but Lebutu and Chimbuka have an on and off relationship (they can be fighting one day and then grooming the next), meaning they may have to be split (or possibly a mini bachelor troop consisting of Chimbuka and maybe some younger males like Shikamoo or Sikamu made?). The updated enclosure will include two halves so it will be possible to separate them if need be.
