Port Lympne Wild Animal Park Port Lympne 2014

Do Port lympne now have dholes, if so where in the park are they? Thanks

I didn't see any dholes onshow 2 week's ago either on foot or from the safari truck.
Don't remember ever seeing a serval at Port Lympne, my first visit was only 6 years ago though!

They have had dholes for a long while ..., if you ask me. Used to be housed right by the first black rhino pen at the top of road towards the African Safari Run.

The enclosure I think you mean, which is where I saw dhole previously, had warty pigs in it 2 weeks ago. It is on the right hand side at the start of the safari ride, so I couldn't see any labelling.

Sad news, unfortunately the male black-footed cat has also passed away. This means that there are no black-footed cats left in Europe now.

None at all?, i never realised the situation was so critical, sad news indeed

This raises the question; When was the last time either of the Aspinall Parks added a new species, and what was it?

I remember the Lion-tailed Macaques arriving at Howletts a few years ago, but I can't think of anything since. Anyone? Given the stated aims nowadays, will any of these 'lost' species be replaced, or any more new ones added?

Port Lympne has lost a lot recently.

The iberian wolves and brown hyenas have left. The black-footed and Indian desert cats have passed away.

If it's true, they are hoping to move the elephants.

All the wildcats are now off-show. Snow leopard is also off-show.

Does anyone know what has happened to the canadian timber wolves? Their enclosure by base camp now has cheetahs in it? Are they still there?

Owstons civet at PL this year, fossa fairly recently, warty pigs.
Can't think of much New since I first visited Howletts in 2007, other than the North Chinese Leopards

When did the lions arrive at Howletts? Thought they were relatively new?

Within the last 3 years.
I also forgot there are at least 3 new lemur species at Howletts in the last 2-3 years
Binturong at PL

To that list you can add Dhole & Sifaka it would appear from my last visit a month ago

Yes it's a real shame. PL also had the last African Golden Cats, and Indian Desert Cats.

That said, the loss of African Golden Cat was almost 15 years ago now ;)

Sifaka are currently offshow to my knowledge, as opposed to absent.

I would have LOVED to see the African golden cats - it is real shame I could not make it there years earlier. However I am extremely grateful that I got some good Indian wildcat (aka desert cat) photos on my first visit in 2009. That was the number one goal for my visit and by staying near their enclosure for the first two hours I was there when a keeper arrived with food. He tied it hanging from the top of the enclosure and the wildcat stood on this log looking up at how to get it. I could not have asked for a better photo op.
